Jacqueline watched intently from just outside the hangar as, one by one, parachutes began to appear in the sky. There was one in particular that she had her eye on, a small red canopy, because she knew that under it was the craziest and most spectacular skydiver of them all… an absolute God among mere mortals… a sky god. He spiraled quickly towards the earth, bleeding off altitude at an alarming rate to prepare for his swoop, turned towards it, and glided in more gracefully than anyone or anything she had ever seen. Just watching him do this made her soak completely through her pants. Then, terrifyingly low to the ground, in fact, less than a foot above it, he hovered over it face down in a dead man posture, then magically returned to a standing position, and ran out his landing. He grinned, knowing how amazing he was; as he daisy chained his parachute and headed back towards the hangar… with every step he took closer in her direction, she could feel her juices were flow down her thighs… she had to experience this sky god.
As Scotty aproached the hangar, he was met with those familiar words he hears all the time after landing a 300 foot plus dead man swoop: "that was sick bro." But it's not the praise of onlookers that makes Scotty live on the edge and tempt death every time he attempst a high performance landing. Scotty is a purest. For him it's all about the rush. It's about chasing the bull. It's about being in control and loosing control in the same moment.
Jacqueline knew that she was a new jumper, and she didn’t know if he would even remember her name, but she had been enraptured with Scotty since she first laid eyes on him during ground school, preceding her AFF Level 1. This was the deciding moment… she could continue to worship him from a distance, or she could take a leap of faith and finally approach him. Her heart caught in her throat as he strode towards the hangar, but only for an instant. “Hey, Scotty”, she breathed, “that swoop was incredible!” Time slowed down in her mind as she waited for what seemed like an eternity for him to respond.
